Seeing Peru's Machu Picchu is quite an epic experience even when it's teeming with people.
Day.1 Cusco – Ollantaytambo- Santa Maria Town - Santa Teresa Town - Hidroelectrica Train Station - Aguas Calientes Town (over night)
We will pick you up at 07:30 to 08:00am from your hotel. The tour will begin at 08:30 am and heading to Ollantaytambo, where we will have a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the area as we take a 30 minutes break in Ollantaytambo. From there, we will continue down a long, winding path to "Abra de Malaga", which stands at an altitude of 4,316 mtrs. From that point, we will see some of the most amazing landscapes that Peru has to offer, after a brief stop, we will begin our descent into the tropical jungle, passing through the different micro-climates that combine the paradisiacal landscapes of the majestic snow-capped peaks with the hot, tropical entrance to the rainforest. We will continue along our route until we reach Alfamayo, where there is a nice paved road in perfect condition that we can use. We will need to take an unpaved road though, in order to continue on in the direction of Santa Maria, which is located at an altitude of 1575 meters above sea level. We will take a moment to rest here before continuing on to the small town of Santa Teresa, where a delicious lunch will be awaiting us at approximately 2:00 pm. There will be a variety of different foods available to suit every taste. Afterwards, at around 3:30 pm, we will continue to Hydroelectric Train station and we will continue walking to Aguas Calientes town, at which point you will be taken to the designated hostel accommodation. If we have enough time you can visit the natural hot springs. Frequently Asked Questions-(FAQ)
Is altitude sickness common? And how high is the Machu Picchu? It's impossible to predict who will be affected by altitude. Your ability to adapt to high altitude is determined by your genetic makeup and has little to do with fitness or health. Most people will have no problems as long as they take the time to acclimatize properly. A full 1 day spent in Cusco (3399m), taking it very easy and drinking plenty of water is enough for some people but if you can arrange to have minimum 2 days in case of any travel disruptions as well then this is what we recommend as there is also so much to do here!. The highest point you will reaches 2500 m on the 2nd day in Machu Picchu. Will I need to bring water? We recommend that you purchase a 1.5 – 2 liter bottle of water to take with you on the day, Also, you will be able to buy water along the way and of course at Machu Picchu. Is the Machu Picchu Tour good during the rainy season? Some people actually like to go during the rainy season because there are fewer tourists but we say please be prepared for wet weather and have suitable clothes or rain jackets. Will I be able to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain? As long as you book and pay well in advance for certain dates in high season it may be necessary to pay 3 -4 months in advance, Last minute bookings of this tour will possibly miss out on permits in high season so we can include the Machu Picchu Mountain permit instead, The trail to Huayna Picchu is safe, very steep with use of chains and not recommended for those with vertigo. It is about an hour and a half round trip. and there are only 2 times during the day it can be climbed with a sign in and out security system. What is an ISIC card? How can I use it to get a discount? This card means International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and is the internationally accepted form of student identification. The government accepts ISIC for discounts for the entrance to Machu Picchu. You must scan your ISIC card to you at the time of your booking and carry your ISIC card on the trek. Will I need any extra money? It is indispensable such as the natural hot springs in Aguas Calientes (10 soles), and tips for your staff, souvenirs, snacks in Machu Picchu, bottled water, drinks, etc. You should take cash in soles. Do Tour guides speak English?Completely fluent in English. Our guides are also one of the most popular aspects of our tours some of them being historians and archaeologists and all demonstrate a great passion for their culture and heritage.
