Machu Picchu Tour Considered one of the World’s Archaeological Jewels and travel destination in Peru, a distance of 120 km (75 miles) from Cusco, in the Valley of the Urubamba River, Machu Picchu lies within the spectacular framework provided by the exuberant vegetation of the nearby jungle and the rugged landscape.

The ruins are situated on the Eastern slope of Machu Picchu in two different areas: the Agricultural and the urban ones. The latter includes the Civil sector (dwellings and canalizations), and the Sacred sector (temples, mausoleums, squares and royal houses). Although constructions show different levels of architecture, religious buildings exhibit a high degree of perfection. The constructions, often, were built with stones, and the roofs were built of tree trunks and thatched with “ichu” straw.

Itinerary

Day 1Machupicchu

We recommend to arrive in Cusco at least one day before, The tour to Machu Picchu starts as the trains leave very early from Cusco city. Cusco is located at 1600 km. south east of Lima (Peru). there are only two ways to reach Machu Picchu from Cusco , one is using the Train Companies (Peru Rail and Inca Rail) and the other is hikking the ancestral “Inca Trail” either in two or four days, On this package only includes the train options.

TOUR DESCRIPTION:

On this tour we will be picked up from your hotel at 06:30 am. In Cusco and then transfered to the train station of Poroy, located 20 minutes away from Cusco downtown. The train leaves at 07:40 h, towards Aguas Calientes, a modern little town close to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The train ride to Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful journeys that visitors can experience in our country.

After passing the Sacred Valley of the Incas the train starts to descend gradually along the edge of the Urubamba River, till finally reach the cloud forest. After approximately 3 hours and 30 min. we will have arrived in Aguas Calientes, where a representative from our agency will welcome you and then will escort you to the Tourist bus station to catch the bus that goes up to the ruins of Machu Picchu. The bus ride to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu lasts around 25 minutes and it follows a steep winding path, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Upon our arrival, we will get into the archaeological zone of Machu Picchu and our guide will show us the most important sectors of this great Inca City, such as the great Intiwatana (solar clock), the Sun Temple, the urban sector, the agricultural sector among others. Machu Picchu was long thought to be legendary.

Then in 1911, the explorer Hiram Bingham stumbled upon it remains. Machu Picchu stands 2,430 m above sea-level, in the middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its height; its giant walls, terraces and ramps seem as if they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. The natural setting, on the eastern slopes of the Andes, encompasses the upper Amazon basin with its rich diversity of flora and fauna. The guided tour in Machu Picchu will last about 2 hours, and afterwards you will have free time to explore the ruins on your own. At around 14:00hrs, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time for lunch and also to explore this colorful town that utterly filled with souvenirs shops, restaurants, bars, internet cafes etc. Finally, at around 16:43 hrs, we take the train back to Poroy train station, where our transfer is waiting for you. And then transferred to your hotel.
