Itinerary

Day 1Iquitos - Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge

Navigate on the greatest river in the world, the Amazon, aboard comfortable and safe motorboats. The trip will allow you to see a marvelous panorama in which the magnificence of the Amazon makes its way through the exuberance of the jungle, where picturesque villages with their particular colour and joy appear on the banks of the River.

Our Lodge built in the native style is surrounded by trees, plants and flowers, a true tropical garden where birds and butterflies are abundant. While your expert naturalist guide explains about the Lodge facilities and the activities to come, our staff will serve you with a refreshing “welcome drink” made with some exotic fruit. It starts with a short walk or canoe ride -according to the rainy season- to a Yagua Native Community, one of the most ancient ethnic groups of the Amazon Rainforest. Here you will have the chance to try the “pucuna” or blowgun. Return to the Lodge. Lunch.

In the afternoon you will proceed with Ethno Botanic tour around the Lodge, during which you will be able to distinguish certain species of the plant kingdom. Visit to the “Shaman” who will explain about the particularities of the regional Flora and its applications. Tour the Santa María del Ojeal farmlands where you will see the artisan Sugar Cane mill. You will also visit a Fish Farm to observe native fish species and walk around a typical village on the banks of the Amazon. At indicated time, evening canoe ride or walk to sense the jungle after dark. Return to the Lodge. Supper. After enjoying a delightful meal, the guide will amuse you with tales and legends from the rich Amazon myths.

Day 2Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge -Tambo Yanayacu Lodge

Primary Rainfores Reserve exploring in the Yanayacu River ecosystem. Sail on the Amazon in an open boat to spot Pink Amazon River Dolphins, main characters of fantastic stories and legends from the Amazon myths. Arrival in the Huashalado Village proceeding with a short walk to the Yanayacu River, where another boat will be waiting to take you to our Tambo Yanayacu Lodge. As you sail, you will enter the “Kingdom of the Giant Trees” so called because of the size some found species reach, among them the “Lupuna” or Ceiba tree. This is an ideal place for birds since the fish found in the river and the fruit from plants that grow on its banks are their main source of feeding; also, the thick forest offers the best possibilities for nesting. With a bit of luck, you may spot monkeys moving along the high tree tops or a sloth or “pelejo” hanging form a branch, mimetising and thus making itself almost unseen.Hike in jungle-trail or canoe ride -according to the season- through primary jungle in which you will observe the particularities of plants and trees from this ecosystem, just to mention the Victoria Regia, water lilac found in lakes or oxbows which reaches a 6-foot diameter. In this area it is also possible to see the “Hoatzin” or “Shansho”, a particular bird with primitive features which feeds on tree leaves. Return to the Tambo Amazonico Lodge. Supper.
